St Nicolas House Point System
What are houses & house points?
House points form our whole school reward system here at St Nicolas.
It encourages a team ethos across the school and allows children of all ages to have a common goal.
Every child, from Reception to Year 6, is sorted into one of four houses: Windrush, Stert, Thames & Ock.
Each house also has 3 teachers allocated to them– one from Early Years, one from Middle Years and one from Upper Years.
The children will have opportunities to meet as a house, once every new term, in a house assembly.
How are house points earned?
House points are given out as a recognition of achievement by individual children. They will include things such as:
- Demonstration of our learning behaviours:
As good learners we try to be:
Successful
Team players
Nurturing
Independent
Creative
Solvers
- Illustrating our value of the month.
- Being polite and well mannered to those around them
Children can also earn a ‘Gold’ house point from Mr Spooner or other senior members of staff.
When a child earns a house point they will collect a house point token and add it to their class’ token collector.
Twice a term, the house captains (Year 6 children) will go round and collect all the house points and add them to the large token collectors in the hall.
At Christmas and Easter the house points will then be counted up and the winning and runner up houses will be awarded the house cups.
Individual achievement
The number of house points individual children earn will also be rewarded with certificates during our whole school achievement assembly.
25 house points = Bronze
50 house points = Silver
75 house points = Gold
